KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Updated January 23, 2023

We are excited to welcome you to the James Library & Center for the Arts! Our patrons, artists, students, and staff’s health and safety are our top priority. We are following all protocols and regulations set by local and state health officials. Thank you for playing your part to keep each other safe.

What’s New:

IN-PERSON & VIRTUAL OPTIONS: For ticketed events, in-person tickets will be available to the first 85 patrons. After in-person tickets are sold out, we may offer a virtual option and in-person ticket wait list.

TICKETS: The James does not have paper tickets. We will have your name at check-in at the door.

  • In-person events, concerts in particular, may have intermissions.

  • Safety measures will be in effect (details below).

LIBRARY BROWSING AND CURBSIDE PICKUP: Guests to the James are welcome to browse our library without a mask. We do ask, however, that if you have a cough or are feeling under the weather, you wear a mask inside the building. If you prefer, curbside book pickup is also available during business hours. Books can be reserved by calling 781-659-7100 or going to JamesLibrary.org and filling out the RESERVE A BOOK form.

LESSONS AT THE JAMES: Piano and voice students will be asked to wash their hands before all lessons. Students can wait in the car until their scheduled lesson time or sit outside the concert hall. Parents or guardians may sit outside the concert hall during their student’s lesson during James business hours, but we ask that non-students wait outside the building when the James is not open to the public.

TICKET SALES: Our website is the best way to purchase tickets to events at the James (www.jameslibrary.org). If you require assistance, you may reach us by calling 781-659-7100 during business hours.

We have invested in our historic home in a number of ways to keep you safe. Our antique windows can now be opened and closed safely, increasing air flow throughout the building. Our HVAC system has been professionally evaluated and MERV13 filters have been installed, per CDC recommendations. Additionally, iWave technology has been installed, which purifies supply air, killing mold, bacteria and viruses. Finally, we have installed Wireless Access Points on all three floors, allowing us to stream events to you at home.
