Exhibition: Sep 11 through Oct 17, 2026
Admission: FREE
The exhibition is curated by Danielle Drees, PhD, author of Spectators: Feminist Performance and Practice. Enjoy a reading and talk with Drees on Friday, October 9th from 4-6pm. Be Intentional brings together artists whose practices reflect deeply personal and socially engaged perspectives. Through painting, sculpture, mixed media, photography, and other forms, the exhibition explores the power of conscious artistic expression in a complex and rapidly changing world. From Mass NAWA, “Being intentional starts with clarity and specificity. All artists are political and must accept responsibility. Being intentional also means being open about your life’s goals, which requires using emotional intelligence to confront everything society might throw at you - and we know it’s a lot during our time!” The exhibition highlights the role of artists not only as creators, but also as observers, advocates, and participants in contemporary cultural dialogue. The works on view invite audiences to consider how intention shapes both artistic practice and daily life, encouraging reflection on identity, responsibility, resilience, and connection. Founded in 1889, the National Association of Women Artists is one of the oldest professional women’s art organizations in the United States, dedicated to supporting women artists and promoting excellence in the visual arts.
