Exhibition Prospectus
The James Library & Center for the Arts 3rd Annual Spring Juried Exhibition, showcasing the best in local and regional art.

This program is also supported in part by grants from the Hanover, Hingham, Norwell, and Scituate Cultural Councils, local agencies that are supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

All work will also be available for viewing and purchase in an online gallery at JamesLibrary.org
Eligibility
Open to all mediums. All painting and drawing, media, sculpture, graphics, photography, ceramic, textiles, wood or metal work, and mixed media. *Works should generally not exceed 72 inches in any dimension or weigh more than 150 pounds. Works must be framed or otherwise ready for hanging/installation. Any sculpture or 3D pieces that require a pedestal must be included in entry and available for use should the piece be accepted.
All entries for this exhibit must be submitted online through entrythingy.com.
No pieces may have been shown or displayed previously at the James.
All works must be current and original, having been created within the last three years.
Artists or an assigned representative must submit accepted works in person. No exceptions. All pieces must be labeled on the back with artist name, title and contact information.
All work must be available for sale. A 35% commission/donation to be due on any pieces sold.
All pieces must be available for exhibit throughout the duration of the exhibition.
Large 2D pieces normally framed in glass that exceeds 48 inches in either direction must be framed using an acrylic glazing (such as Plexiglas) only. No clamped glass, cardboard, paste-on or saw tooth hangers.
Due to safety concerns, any work found to not be suitably framed may be disqualified and rejected from the exhibit with no refund of entry fee.
*Due to space constraints, all 2D pieces must not exceed 48” X 72” and 3D pieces must not exceed 36” X 60”. NOTE: Special exceptions may be requested in advance of entry. Email Art Gallery Director William Houser at: bill.houser@comcast.net

Juror
Jean Mineo
Executive Director, Cultural Alliance of Medfield
Jean Mineo is honored to be affiliated with the James Library and Center for the Arts. Mineo is Founder and Executive Director of the Cultural Alliance of Medfield working to develop a cultural campus for visual, performing and culinary arts at the 87-acre former Medfield State Hospital.
Mineo works with municipalities and private organizations to bring art to public places through temporary exhibitions and permanent installations in greater Boston. Recently, she was Director of the Boston Sculptors Gallery managing 36 sculptors in 14 solo exhibitions annually. Mineo also ran the Jamaica Plain Open Studios for three years coordinating 220 artists at 70 sites. Prior to this, she oversaw more than 30 exhibitions of contemporary art during her tenure as Executive Director of the New Art Center in Newton.
Mineo holds a B.F.A from the Rochester Institute of Technology and an M.A. in Arts Administration from American University.

March 15–19 Drop off of accepted works during business hours. See website for current hours of operation.
March 25 Opening day Open House 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm
May 7 End of exhibit
May 10–21 Pickup of unsold artwork. Pick up during business hours.
*Artists will be charged a $5.00 per day fee for any work not picked up by May 21, 2022.
Rules/Disclaimer/Legal
The James Library & Center for the Arts will use care in the handling of all work, but in no way are responsible for any damage that may occur in moving or hanging art work as well as any loss or theft of artwork. Artists should obtain any necessary insurance.
The James Library & Center for the Arts reserves the right to disqualify and reject any work which cannot be displayed in a safe and secure manner (including poorly framed or wired work).
Any works accepted into the exhibition may be used for marketing activities to advertise and promote this exhibit and future exhibits (artist credits to be given).
I understand that the James Library & Center for the Arts requests a 35% donation/commission for any pieces sold during the run of the exhibit and a 10% donation/commission for any pieces that sell within 60 days after, as a result of being in this exhibition.
