May 16, 2027 — The James Library & Center for the Arts invites local art enthusiasts, collectors, and creators to refresh their home decor and connect with the community during "The Great Art Swap.”

Designed to circulate art throughout the South Shore community, this casual "take a piece, leave a piece" event offers participants a unique opportunity to trade framed prints, vintage finds, or original works for new-to-them treasures. Whether replacing a piece that no longer fits a home's aesthetic or rehoming experimental works created in a studio, attendees can give good-condition artwork a second life.

How the Event Works:

Bring It: Attendees may bring up to three pieces of "ready-to-hang" artwork in good condition.

Browse & Swap: For every piece contributed, participants receive a swap ticket to claim a new artwork from the community collection.

Connect: Guests can enjoy light refreshments and conversation with fellow art lovers in the historic James Library setting.

The event accepts a wide range of styles and mediums, including paintings, photography, fine art prints, and mixed media. Unclaimed artworks remain the property of their original owners and must be taken home at the conclusion of the event.
