The James Library & Center for the Arts invites the community to celebrate the holiday season with Charles Dickens for Christmas, a special literary performance in the Concert Hall.

This engaging program recreates the dynamic reading style of Charles Dickens by actor Kenneth Noll. Dickens famously performed his own works for audiences in England and the United States and was known for his expressive voice, dramatic gestures, and emotional delivery. Dickens transformed literary readings into vivid theatrical experiences, bringing his unforgettable characters to life on stage.

Charles Dickens: A Christmas Carol offers audiences a chance to experience these classic holiday tales as they were originally performed—rich with humor, pathos, and theatrical flair. The program highlights Dickens not only as one of literature’s greatest authors, but also as a compelling performer whose readings captivated 19th-century audiences.

Designed as a festive seasonal event for adults and students alike, the program provides an intimate and immersive way to connect with timeless stories that continue to define the spirit of the holidays.
