Join the Spare Studio for an afternoon of Art Unplugged: Zines of the James. A zine is a small, self-published booklet historically rooted in DIY culture and created using simple methods like cutting, pasting, and photocopying. They are tactile, unfiltered ways to share information and art outside of mainstream publishing.
In this workshop, we will use collage materials, text, and imagery to create our own handmade zines. Specifically, we will be designing these mini-booklets as creative pamphlets to promote upcoming events at The James. You will learn how to fold and layout a single-sheet zine, combine mixed-media elements, and produce a unique piece of print media to welcome new visitors to the space.
Art Unplugged is for all ages.
Art Unplugged is funded by a grant from the Levitate Foundation.
