Join artist Elaine Buckholtz for a hands-on workshop where you’ll design and build your own handheld optical device using reflective metals, transparent lenses, diffraction and refraction materials, iridescent films, and other fascinating optical elements. Experiment with light, color, reflection, and perception as you create a unique viewing tool that transforms the world around you.

This workshop is presented in conjunction with an exhibition of optical devices and unusual materials that invite playful exploration and new ways of looking.

No experience is necessary. All materials are provided, and participants will take home the optical device they create.

Open to all ages (recommended for ages 8 and up). Art Unplugged is funded by a grant from the Levitate Foundation.
