Join Sheelah of studio.skf for an engaging hands-on introduction to the art of relief linoleum cut printmaking.
Relief printmaking is an old art process that transforms a simple block into a one-of-a-kind printed image. In this class, you’ll learn how to design and carve a linoleum block, cutting away the areas you want to remain unprinted while leaving your image raised on the surface. Ink is then rolled onto the raised areas, and paper is pressed onto the block to reveal your design as a beautiful, reversed print.
You’ll be guided through the process step by step, from creating your design and safely carving your block to inking and printing your finished work. No previous printmaking experience is necessary—just bring your creativity and curiosity!
Come explore the satisfying, tactile process of carving and printing while creating your own handmade artwork. Your finished prints will become part of a collective work piece that will be displayed at the James.
Art Unplugged is for all ages.
